Shipwrights Small Boats

Would you like to play a key role in the success of our small boats operations? We currently have a vacancy for a Shipwrights Small Boats at our site in Portsmouth Naval Base.

As a Shipwrights Small Boats, you will be working within the manufacturing department of Small Boats. The work will cover boat refit, repairs, operational defects and upgrades.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to specialise in the manufacture, repair and maintenance of various boat related hull, structure, systems and equipment, mechanical and associated ancillary equipment.

Your main responsibilities as a Shipwrights Small Boats will involve:

Shipwright competency to be measured at a minimum of 60% against MS Shipwright competencies

Demonstrate strong SHE working practices, high standards, behaviour modelling across all areas

Integrates SHE activities into daily working.Carry out a Trade specific Take 5 plus 5 dynamic risk assessment before every task

Provide visible active commitment to SHE – leading by example, acting on SHE concerns

Carry out installation / removal / repair / maintenance / replacement of hull related equipment maintenance and defect rectification in accordance with the project schedules to meet customer quality expectations

Fault diagnosis and defect rectification

Carry out detailed inspections and be fully conversant in the use of all measuring equipment’s

Use of calibrating measurement equipment

Operation of common workshop plant/hand tooling; e.g.: Fixed drills, grinders, jigsaws, torque wrenches, presses, cleaning tanks etc

Read/Interpret Shipwright Drawings

Demonstrate Strong SHE working practices

Fault Diagnosis and Defect Rectification

Electrical and Mechanical (Marine) engineering knowledge

Desirable:

Understanding of Project Milestones

Right first-time principals
