- Provide a pro-active and re-active day-to-day second line of defence Compliance support in relation to regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures, best practice guidelines and reputational matters which impact the Data Sciences/Analytics and AI/ML business (“the business”), including but not limited to
- Data Privacy and Data Use,
- Information Barriers,
- Offshoring/Outsourcing requirements Client Asset and Money (CASS) rules,
- Regulatory reporting requirements under MiFID and EMIR/Dodd Frank,
- Conflicts of Interest,
- New business initiatives,
- Regulatory changes/development,
- Other change management advice, and
- Ad hoc and/or other strategic projects which arises from time to time
- Assess new business proposals (products, services and systems) in light of new and existing regulations, policies, and procedures before, during and after their design and implementation
- Work in partnership with key stakeholders (such as central Compliance teams or Country Compliance Officers, Business Managers and Business Control Officers), to support ongoing business control processes and business governance
- Partner with EMEA Core Compliance teams to develop holistic Compliance coverage of the business, including:
- Conducting Compliance Risk Assessment as needed to assess risk relative to the business area;
- Development of relevant Compliance Policies to address relevant regulatory/compliance risks within the business/function;
- In conjunction with Compliance Monitoring & Testing teams, develop Compliance monitoring & testing plan for coverage of the business/function; and
- In conjunction with Compliance Training, develop annual and ad-hoc Compliance Training/Awareness to address relevant risks within the business/function.
- Provide Compliance on the relevant Analytics and Data Sciences control forums, management meetings, etc.
- Conduct independent risk assessment to identify the key areas of risk impacting the business
- Work with Second Line of Defence Testing team to identify and test controls related to Compliance relevant risks and with Control Managers to enhance controls where weakness are identified through testing and/or monitoring.
- Monitor and escalate significant issues as required
- Monitoring of business processes and activities against regulatory and policy requirements
- Liaise with Regulators as required on issues impacting the business
- Compiling management information and analysing trends.
- Deliver a training and communication program to ensure that employees are familiar with the applicable risk, regulations, policies
- Participate in Industry Committees and Forums as needed to support the Compliance agenda
- Develop and maintain expert knowledge of current and future Data and Technology regulations impacting the EMEA region.
- Develop and maintain links with the management for IT Risk, Cybersecurity and Global Security and Investigations
Required Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate most or all of the following experience and skills:
- Prior experience in a control function (i.e. Audit, Compliance, Legal, Controls) in an Financial Services industry, or experience of Privacy, data protection or information security related issues
- Regulatory and Compliance expertise including knowledge of UK regulation and pan-EEA regulations, in particular must have strong knowledge of the Data Protection and Privacy obligations in the EMEA regulations and technology related controls and information security measures.
- Strong, succinct and clear communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Demonstrated problem and incident management skills gained in a technical or operational department.
- Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, including effective data analysis, investigative problem solving skills and ability to make sound decisions about compliance risks and recommend appropriate corrective action.
Demonstrated collaborative style and ability to partner with people across a diverse and global organization. Ability to handle competing priorities and work in a pressurised environment.
- Well organized and able to execute responsibilities with minimal supervision; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and bring tasks to completion within established timeframes.
- Candidate must be highly motivated, intuitive and possess initiative to identify potential process improvement.
