Senior Engineer - Strategic Weapon Organisation

This is an exciting time to join the Strategic Weapon Organisation as it transitions from the design to the test and commissioning phase. Would you be interested in a role, with an opportunity for development, where you analyse, plan and provide expert advice to the Strategic Weapon Test Organisation (SWTO). We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer to support the SWTO at our site in Barrow.

As a Senior Engineer - Strategic Weapon Organisation you will have the opportunity to be a part of an organisation supporting the Electrical Engineering aspects of the Trident weapons system Test & Commissioning activities. This is a subject matter expert (SME) post providing input and understanding of the Strategic Weapons Systems (SWS), Strategic Weapons Support Systems (SWSS) and BAE Systems Submarine business processes, primarily focusing on the electrical elements.

The position will provide you with career progression opportunities and you will be fully supported in your development within BAE Systems.

Your main responsibilities will involve:

Developing and supporting an evolving environment, at a time in the product lifecycle that embraces change and innovation enabling the correct individual to make a tangible difference.

Reviewing and working with stakeholder on US and UK Engineering documentation required to support Test and Commissioning.

Supporting process development in new a mobilising organisation

Engaging and collaborating with UK Ministry of Defence and US Department of Defense engineers

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

HNC or equivalent experience in the shipyard

Submarine Electrical Engineering/commissioning and/or SWS and technical support experience

Demonstrable engineering project involvement within a team.

Desirable:

SWS Electrical Engineering experience

Test and Commissioning Electrical Systems experience

Maritime – Submarines

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
