Microsoft Research in Cambridge, UK, is looking for an design graduate to provide design methods, ideas and material as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and UX specialists doing research looking at the area of inclusive design. The team are exploring the use of AI-based computer vision and perception technology in this domain, designing multi-modal user interfaces to meet real needs while exploring complex issues such as privacy and the adaptability of digital systems.
Determined contract duration: 1 year
Candidates should have experience working with a multi-disciplinary team of technologists, designers and social-scientists, bringing design and design thinking to a range of projects and domains. They should have strong visual and communication skills, able to craft stories that present the context for new concepts. Experience working with a team to prototype software, to move ideas from concept towards reality, is essential. A proven ability to deal with ambiguity is a must have, with demonstrable experience for using design thinking and collaborative design tools to help build consensus within a group setting.
- 5+ years of experience in interaction design.
- Master’s degree or higher in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design or related field.
- Facility to develop and lead design workshops with multi-disciplined groups.
- Skills in digital sketching and prototyping.
- Strong illustration and storytelling skills.
- Confident presenting and promoting design solutions.
- Online portfolio and portfolio review required.
- Experience with audio design, spatialized audio
- Experience with physical prototyping
