Engineer - Electrical, Control &Instrumentation

Would you like to play a key role in thedevelopment and delivery of submarine systems? We currently have a vacancy foran Engineer (Electrical, C & I) at our site in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

As an Engineer (Electrical, C & I), youwill be responsible for designing system solutions for various electrical systemson the Astute Class submarines. You will also be involved with supporting thesuccessful resolution of emergent issues arising within the submarinecommissioning and build programme.

This role will provide you with the chance todevelop your engineering career, whilst undertaking a diverse range ofengineering challenges. You will have excellent potential for careerprogression, such as development to Senior Engineer level or support towardsobtaining chartered status.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineer -Electrical, Control & Instrumentation will involve:

Carrying out functional and system design and providingfor their scope of responsibility

Producing evidence in support of qualification,legislative requirements and safety justifications and providing specialist supportfor associated activities

Confirming beyond reasonable doubt by review,surveillance and audit, that those assumptions underpinning engineering data,analysis methodologies, and interpretation of results have been validated

Contributing to the identification and rapidclosure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and managing theresulting change embodiment activities

Liaising with both internal and externalcustomers as required ensuring that their requirements are adequately supportedand that their needs are fully considered and incorporated

Providing assurance to the Design Authority asto the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation

Providing support to the Certificate of Designactivities

Your skills and qualifications as an Engineer -Electrical, Control & Instrumentation:

Essential skills:

Degree inelectrical/electronic/software/computing/ C&I/ systems engineering orequivalent experience

IT skills


Knowledge of systems engineering anddevelopment lifecycles

Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution and/orControl & Instrumentation
