IT Technical Analyst

Would you like to play a key role in designing and supporting themilitary information systems & services of the future?Do you want to help ensure that our armedforces have the information intelligence advantage?We currently have a vacancy for an ITTechnical Analyst specialising in secure military information systems andservices within our Defence Information business at our Christchurch site.

As an IT Technical Analyst, you will be responsible for providingtechnical support and advice across our portfolio of military informationsystems.You will have a keen andnatural interest in current and emerging technologies along with anappreciation of the supply chain to deliver COTS and tailored bespokesolutions.You will work closely withour System Designers to maintain existing systems and infrastructure, whilealso supporting the development of future innovative solutions againststretching requirements, all within budget.

You should have some hardware and software knowledge (or beprepared to rapidly learn) in the domains such as data centre or computer roomdesign and operation, cloud computing, virtualisation, system and protectivemonitoring, and local/wide area networks within secure IT environments.You may also have an appreciation ofelectrical and cooling requirements, and ruggedisation of deployable militarysolutions.

Your mainresponsibilities as an IT Technical Analyst

Youwill be part of team with overall responsibilities for:

Workingwith the IT Supply Chain to support existing infrastructure and newrequirements

Identifyhardware and software solutions to meet customer requirements

CreateBill of Materials (BoMs) and identify competitive compliant suppliers withbudget

Workclosely with Procurement to purchase and process all materials

Maintaina thorough knowledge of current COTS hardware and software IT technologies

Awarenessof competitors and their capabilities

What we're looking forin you:

Youmay have qualifications, skills or experience covering some of:

Degreeor equivalent in relevant engineering discipline

Securityarchitectures and COTS integration within military environment

Cloudcomputing, virtualisation, data storage, application hosting

Operationalsupport, system monitoring, protective monitoring

MoDor Industry IT projects and programmes

Datacentre and computer room design

Productsafety, certification and legislative standards

Budgetsand forecasting

Professionalregistration or willingness to obtain

Youmust be a good communicator, with the ability to build effectiverelationships.The role will provideopportunities to travel both within the UK and abroad, and you will need tohave or able to attain the required levels of security clearance for the role.

Location: Christchurch, Dorset

Salary: £32,000 based on experience
