Principal Engineer (ElectricalAssurance)
Wouldyou like to play a key role in the assurance of submarine systems? We currentlyhave a vacancy for a Principal Engineer (Electrical Assurance) at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
Asa Principal Engineer (Electrical Assurance) within the Engineering ProductAssurance Department, you will be providing the Head of Engineering (Assuranceand Safety) with technical assurance advice relevant to a number of ElectricalSubmarine systems such as: Naval Reactor Plant, Propulsion and Whole BoatPlatform systems and associated equipment. You will be part of a team whoserole is to provide Assurance that all the products BAE Systems Submarinesproduce meet their requirements, are safe to operate and compliant withstatutory legal and regulatory requirements.

Your mainresponsibilities as a Principal Engineer (Electrical Assurance) willinvolve:
Compiling assurance evidence through review, surveillanceand audit of Electrical systems design, build, commissioning, and certificationactivities, as required by the Technical Assurance Programme
Conducting assurance of sub-contractors and supplierdesign and build activities and outputs, as required by the Technical Assuranceprogramme
Reviewing plans for surveillance and audit for allaspects of the submarine Electrical activities and systems including throughlife capability and support
Working closely with Quality Assurance, EngineeringFunction, Dockside Test Organisation (DTO), Projects and MoD in deliveringassurance against design intent for build and commissioning phases of submarineproduction including process instructions, workmanshipstandards and risk assessments applicable to the scope of work and to obey allHS&E rules and control measures
Yourskills and qualifications:
Degreeor equivalent qualification or experience within Electrical Engineering orclosely related discipline
Electricalexperience gained from a complex engineering environment either in the design,build or operational state
Knowledgeof safety engineering and engineering lifecycles applied to safety criticalindustries
Experienceof marine/ defence industry
CharteredEngineer or working towards Chartered Status

Ableto put forward a clear and credible reasoning in either support engineeringdecisions or providing the argument why you do not support the decision.
Tohave experience of design proving, product verification, build surveillanceand/or product assurance and qualification activities.
