Senior ProjectManager – Construction

BAESystems Real Estate Solutions (RES) are looking for a Senior Project Manager tosupport a growing portfolio of facilities and building services projects withour UK business.

Theprimary role of this position is to further develop, deliver and manage theproject management, commercial and engineering services that we provide to thecompany’s submarine manufacturing business in Barrow-in-Furness. As such, therole requires presence on site in Barrow for a minimum of 3 full days per weekor more as required from time to time to meet the demands of the projects orthe customer’s requirements to attend meetings etc. When not at the customer’ssite your home office will be on the docklands in Portway House, Preston.

Youwill work with our real estate, SHE, planning, commercial and engineering teamsand have overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of a portfolio ofprojects ensuring scope, plans, resources and budgets are aligned to deliverproject success. The role covers thewhole project lifecycle from initial inception and business case development,through the design and procurement process and onto the delivery andcommissioning phases.

Projectswill be related to the repair or refurbishment of existing facilities and orthe construction of new facilities and services infrastructure.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior ProjectManager will involve:

Take responsibility for growing our account with this customer.Promoting our services and securing workload for yourself and the wider RESteam

Drive business winning and have the ability identify new opportunitiesand create compelling proposals and business cases

Establish and maintain effective working business relationships withproject sponsors, stakeholders and team members within RES and the customercommunities

Leading the planning and implementation of medium to large scaleprojects; facilitating the definition of project scope, objectives anddeliverables while ensuring technical feasibility

Assist the customer in defining project requirements, lead negotiationsand coordinate client and supplier teams and set the overall project strategyand objectives

Assemble an effective project team and provide direction and support tothe team to ensure successful delivery

Clearly communicate expectations, milestones, risks, status and changesin scope to team members, stakeholders and project sponsors

Complete post-project evaluations to determine how well results wereachieved and if adjustments to processes are needed

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Experience of successful project delivery throughout the whole projectlifecycle

Significant and varied working knowledge and experience of ProjectManagement tools, techniques and processes buildings relevant to theconstruction sector

Formal project management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2

Experience and practical application of the Construction (Design &Management) Regulations

Experience in the administration of construction contracts using the NECand or JCT forms of contract

Understanding of statutoryrequirements, current regulations and approved codes of practice relating tobuildings and facilities

People management experience, preferably experience managing contractors

Excellent stakeholder management skills including influencing andnegotiation

Good IT skills, proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, withexperience of Microsoft Project

Desirable:

Degree qualification in project management, construction management orrelevant engineering discipline

Chartered or working towards Chartered status

SHE qualification e.g. IOSH or NEBOSH Construction Certificate

Salary: £50,000+dependent on experience
