Programme Technical Manager – Market Creation

We currently have a vacancy for a Programme Technical Manager specialising in innovation, product development and market creation within our Defence Information business at our Christchurch site.

As a Programme Technical Manager for Defence Information, you will look at the strategic direction of our products, solutions and services and achieve business level objectives. You will identify key differentiating technologies, generate innovation ideas and work with our teams to develop Intellectual Property (IP). You will need to build strategic relationships, with ability to influence customer thinking and future requirements, whilst maintaining knowledge of potential competitors.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your technical career and extend your knowledge, providing you with the opportunity to work across a wide range of military land, air and sea platforms. Your main responsibilities as a Programme Technical Manager will involve:


Maintain a thorough knowledge of leading technologies


Influence and steer innovation, products and services


Pull together disparate BAE Systems products into systems of the future


Build strong strategic customer relationships


Technical understanding of competitors products, strengths and weaknesses

You will work with a growing team, all with a similar passion for technology and drive to learn, innovate and demonstrate their skills and abilities. You will have a track record within industry that has been underpinned with significant hands on technical experience.

Your skills and qualifications as a Programme Technical Manager:


Degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline


System design methodologies


Innovation and Intellectual Property (IP)


Military or commercial architectures


Product safety, certification and legislative standards

What we're looking for in you:

Recent experience with major systems for military or commercial use

You must be an excellent communicator, with the ability to build effective relationships and to think strategically, considering the bigger-picture. The role will provide opportunities to travel both within the UK and abroad, and you will need to have or able to attain the required levels of security clearance for the role.

Location: Christchurch, Dorset

Salary: Up to £75,000 based on experience, with performance related bonus and car allowance
