Manufacturing Engineer Manager

Would you like the opportunity to influence a new and exciting programme from the outset? We currently have a vacancy for a Manufacturing Engineer Manager at our site in Barrow.

As a Manufacturing Engineer Manager, you will lead the establishment of the Build and Test capability of the next generation SSN from the beginning of its life cycle.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on a new business programme and support through the entire life cycle. There will be career development opportunities within the SSNR Programme, the Manufacturing Engineering function, or more broadly within BAE Systems building on a successful outcome on SSNR.

Your main responsibilities as a Manufacturing Engineer Manager

will involve:

Responsible for leading the development of the SSNR Build Strategy and MBOM team, to design, define, modify, optimise and govern the Build Strategy throughout the product lifecycle

To lead a team of multidiscipline professional Manufacturing Engineers, planning and coordinating their activities to meet departmental and business requirements.

To undertake delegated authority roles as appointed, e.g. Area Discipline Licence Holder or

Capability Lead, as defined in the delegation of authority document.

Manage the interfaces between Manufacturing Engineering, Design, Operations and other stakeholders.

Provide specialist advice, product or process knowledge and output requirements.

Manage scheduling, planning, budgets, performance, task management, delegation, activity delivery, configuration control stages and detailed gate reviews and governance of outputs prior to formal release.

Chair technical meetings and reviews as necessary, that support the Manufacturing Engineering end deliverable.

Your skills and qualifications:

To be able to lead the development and growth of a new team

MS Office Packages – Excel, Word,

Previous experience leading teams, Resource Management, Budgetary knowledge & Project Management experience

Experience of Continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment

What we're looking for in you:

SAP knowledge

To have a good understanding of all relevant tools (software based or otherwise)

Awareness of Engineering processes in a complex environment, including Nuclear

Ability to influence key stakeholders

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
