Scientist (CEM Developer)
Would you like to work within an interestingrole, supporting the Computational engineering team? We currently have avacancy for a Computational Electromagnetics Developer at our site in Filton.
As a Scientist (CEM Developer) you willbe developing and maintaining advanced electromagnetic simulation tools usedfor low observable (stealth) design, EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) andEMI (electromagnetic interference). Someapplication work using the toolsets will be required.
This intellectually stimulating role requiresfundamental understanding of mathematical principles of electromagnetics andtheir computational solution, building on academic research to createindustrial standard software used across the Air, Land and Sea domains.
Forthe right person with the required levels of performance and expertise, thisrole provides the opportunity to develop into a senior technical leadershiprole.
Your main responsibilities as a Scientist (CEM Developer) will involve:
Managingand providing technical leadership on development projects, ensuring that theyare delivered on time and to cost and incorporate leading edge CEM(computational electromagnetics) techniques and software implementations.
Leadingliaisons with internal stakeholders to plan future code development roadmapsbased on requirements and emerging CEM and computing capability. (Occasional UKtravel required).
Maintainingtechnical capabilities by identifying emerging CEM trends and interactions withglobal CEM community.
Maintainingsuitable records and archives for projects to allow reuse of work whereappropriate and conform to mandated quality and document management processes.
Keepingup to date with literature, attendance of conferences, maintaining up to dateknowledge.
Your skills and qualifications:
Thecandidate is expected to be proficient in Computational Electromagnetics withdemonstrated experience of code development and understanding of underlyingmathematical principles and EM theory and the ability to formulate newtechniques for specific application areas.
Goodcomputer skills: (Unix and Windows platforms)
Computerprogramming in Fortran 90, C, Matlab and/or C++. Cuda GPU and MPI/OpenMPparallel programming experience also advantageous and experience of coding forHPC systems.
Indepth understanding of EM theory and related mathematical formulations andnumerical solution techniques.
Backgroundin EMC, radar scattering or antenna modelling an advantage.
Understandingof typical numerical schemes (i.e. Finite Difference/Finite Element, Method ofMoments, Physical Optics).
Goodstandard of written and oral communication skills.
