CIB Securities Operations, Portfolio Services Business Engineering, VP/Assoc - Bournemouth

As a member of Broker Dealer Asset Servicing Business Engineering team within Portfolio Services, the successful candidate will be required to drive, analyse, support and deliver a wide range of change initiatives across the CIB. The role's primary focus is take a lead role in the Business Analysis and Requirements Definition required to support the CIB Operational teams within the Change Initiative landscape, understanding and documenting the change impact across the full processing life-cycle. The role will interact with a wide range of organizations outside Operations so effective communication and broad knowledge of the Securities industry is critical to an individual’s success. Successful candidates will be expected to be quick learners who can manage multiple tasks across multiple projects and be able to leverage and apply their experience effectively.

The portfolio of work will consist of projects of various sizes from large multi-year strategic efforts to short duration tactical deliveries.

As a Business Engineer, the core responsibilities of this position include:

  • Define solutions to deliver against strategic objectives, from idea

generation, business analysis (end to end impact), requirements definition

and work prioritisation (Agile Product Owner role) through to validation,

partnering with stakeholders to achieve optimal, well considered


  • Build and own project deliverables and track to successful

delivery, generating business workflows and plans that assure that our

goals can be achieved.

  • Close collaboration with Operations and other stakeholders to

design new operating models and procedures and supporting Operations

through change implementation.

  • Contribute to governance meetings and ensure risks and issues are

effectively escalated and monitored: Creation of the summarized project

dashboard, to assist in communicating status to management, is also


  • Ensure that priorities are communicated. With competing interests,

the delivery teams must balance workload and priorities around a demanding

schedule. Being able to influence people for the good of the project

is therefore an important skill.

  • Engage with Technology partners to explain business and data

requirements and collaborate on solution design.

  • Demonstrate a strong Control and Risk awareness to identify,

escalate, control and mitigate

  • Certain work will require the engagement with organizations outside

J.P. Morgan. Indeed, vendors form and important fabric of support

for our firm. Identifying and vetting vendors is an important aspect

of the role. Successful vendor engagements require a careful

balancing of priorities to assure that appropriate control and

responsibility is achieved and that the engagement is cost

effective. When working with vendors being able to perform the role

of point person between the organizations is of critical importance.


  • Extensive

knowledge of end to end Asset Servicing processing, preferably within

Markets and Prime Businesses.

  • Strong

business analysis skills; the ability to concisely articulate clear,

concise requirements based on thorough analysis and expected impact on the

end to end processing environment and ensure these are tested effectively.

  • Pragmatic

decision making to overcome obstacles.

  • Sound

project management skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple

project commitments simultaneously across a varied book of work.

  • The

ability to proactively engage with others across organizations to

establish relationships that permit change to happen is a key to success.

  • The

capability to evaluate and adapt to demands when introduced at any point

in the Project Lifecycle and quickly establish requirements, key

stakeholders and next steps.

  • Excellent

  • The

ability to travel may be required.

  • A

self motivated individual who is able to deliver with minimal supervision

whilst also working effectively as part of a team.
