Scientist Al Developer
Would you like to be involved in using newartificial intelligence algorithms? For the past 2years the Integrated Modelling Technologies Group (IMTG), part of theComputational Engineering business, has continuously increased its capabilityin AI and is now acting as an area of technical expertise within the Airsector. We have secured a variety of projects in this area to be delivered toour Air and Maritime customers. We currently have a vacancy for an Al Developerat our site in Filton, near Bristol.
As an Al Developer, you will be expected to beinvolved in developing machine learning algorithms for classification typeproblems using existing data sources from air, land or sea platforms. Forexample, typical work would be creating code in Python using the TensorFlowframework to create prototype applications.
This role will provide you with, a broadunderstanding of air, land and maritime platforms, the engineering lifecycleand how emerging AI/ML technologies can provide a step change in the design,development, test, maintenance and support of BAE Systems products. It alsooffers the opportunity to apply new machine learning to exciting newtechnologies within the defence environment. This role offers realistic careerprogression.
Your main responsibilities as a Scientist Al Developer will involve:
Manage technical projects competently in orderto ensure adherence with baseline schedule, scope and costs.
Develop new opportunities to deploy machinelearning for the benefit of BAE Systems.
Develop new algorithms in a variety of applicationareas including service engineering, manufacturing, situational awareness andautonomy.
Take responsibility for Technical developmentof applying machine learning algorithms across new development areas.
Maintainingknowledge in this area of expertise, keeping up to date with currentdevelopments and events.
Has an understanding of the customers’ businessissues and needs, both obvious and underlying.
Responds to customer requests, maintainingclear communication, correcting problems and taking action to make thingsbetter for the customer.
Your skills and qualifications as a Scientist Al Developer:
1+years of industry experience or a PhD or relevant post-doctoral experience(computer science/ physics/ mathematics/ STEM subject).
Bachelor’sand/or master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalentexperience.
Ability to write high performance productionquality code.
Demonstrateproficiency in coding, e.g. C++/ Python/ MATLAB.
Demonstrated knowledge in some of thefollowing areas: Machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing,computer vision, pattern recognition, large-scale data mining
Some experience working on classificationproblems would be advantageous
Industryexperience building and productionizing innovative end-to-end Machine Learningsystems using frameworks such as TensorFlow would be advantageous.
