Senior Network Engineer– Combat Systems
We currently have avacancy for a Senior Network Engineer at our site in New Malden.
As a Senior NetworkEngineer, you will be employed to undertake a defined range of Networkengineering design, development & test activities for multiple programmesacross multiple programmes(e.g. Type 26, QEC, Type 45).Wecurrently have a vacancy for a Shared Infrastructure Network Engineer at oursite in New Malden.
This role will provideyou with the opportunity to broaden your knowledge and be involved in one ofthe most modern engineering projects in the UK. The role will offerchallenges and change throughout the duration of the programme and allow you towork on the latest combat systems shared infrastructure product.
Your mainresponsibilities as a Senior Network Engineer will involve:
Responsibility forvarious stages of the network development. This may include: design (respondingto design changes, High and Low Level Design, creating supporting technical documentation), analysis (creating and investigating observation reports on networkbehaviour), configuration development in a change control environment, producttesting and supporting the resolution of issues with the network infrastructureor connected application components.
Ensuring thatcommunications function across the network architecture and that the network’s performancemeets the necessary requirements
Providing direction,information, and recommendations regarding network configurations andinstallations on RN platforms to support the various aspects of overall CombatSystem integration
Carrying out investigationsinto operational problems or developments and develop and prepare solutions,individually or as a member of a project team
Keeping up to date inrelevant technical areas, develop skills and capabilities to be able to providemore effective services and supplying technical support and expertise to othersas required
Acting as a member of atechnical team created to accomplish tasks of a specialist nature.
We require a SeniorNetwork engineer with experience of a number of the following:
An understanding of howto configure and setup Juniper and Dell Switches and Fortinet Firewalls
Experience withconfiguring and installing client and server network software
Knowledge of Local AreaNetworking (LAN) and/or Wide Area Networking (WAN) technologies
Anunderstanding of the technology behind a switched architecture and its workings(DNS, DHCP, Security, IP Switching/Routing, HTTP, VPN, VSS, Multicast, QoSetc.)
Required Current JuniperJNCIP level
Experience of workingwith Switches, Routers, Servers, Cables (Cat 5-6), Fibre Optics, Racks LAN,WAN, TCP/IP (Ethernet)
Network Management &Monitoring Systems e.g. PRTG and Solarwinds
A good knowledge of allphases of the software lifecycle but with particular experience in Integration& Acceptance
And ideally knowledge inone or more of the following:
Windows Server 2016 andWindows 10 Enterprise
Other operating/hypervisorsystems including VMware ESXi Server 6, Linux (RedHat)
Working knowledge ofvarious VMware tools
Working knowledge of SANTechnologies (iSCSI)
What we're looking forin you:
We are looking for youto be a highly motivated self starter individual with a strong desire tosucceed despite setbacks and have the ability to communicate verbally and inwriting to management and peers, experience in a multi- disciplined engineeringenvironment would also be beneficial.
