Procurement and Buying Professional
Are you a highly experienced Procurement/Buying Professional, are you looking for the opportunity to be part of a large scale programme? We currently have openings to work within our Maritime, Submarines programme at Barrow-In-Furness, which will give you just that opportunity.
As a Procurement/Buying Professional, you will be responsible for delivering Procurement activity for the specific item/scope of work assigned, including the execution of the end to end Procurement process, for example the delivery of information, products and services, to quality, cost and schedule requirements. You will manage the supplier performance and improvement activity, including pro-active risk/opportunity management. As well as developing, maintaining and managing stakeholders.
This role will be at the forefront of this development and will give you the opportunity to have a positive impact on this programme.
Your main responsibilities as a Procurement/Buying Professional will involve:
Planning, controlling, executing and monitoring all in-scope transactional Procurement and major subcontracting activity with minimal supervision
Developing and agreeing the Procurement strategies for particular assigned areas and leading implementation of plans. Whilst promoting cross functional collaboration to ensure full, thorough engagement and buy-in to contracting strategies
Undertaking as well as supporting the team, in supplier assessment and due diligence activity to ensure the effective selection of suppliers to meet business needs
Adapting approach to ensure that negotiations are concluded for an optimised business outcome
Recording and reporting cost savings / cost avoidance and delivering ongoing cost analysis. As well as robust project / contract management
Delivery of a coherent subcontract document as well as effectively managing sub-contract change
Leading the timely identification, analysis and resolution of internal and external issues which may potentially affect the supply of material to programme requirements
Update in house reporting systems with accurate information relating to the procurement activity and in accordance with document management policy and process
Undertaking the continuous review of supplier performance against quality, cost and delivery metrics to ensure Submarines' requirements are met and therefore supporting the future Supply Chain strategy
Contributing to business wide change and improvement projects
Your skills and qualifications:
Knowledge of and experience within a Supply Chain environment
Demonstrable understanding of building knowledge of supplier operations and working with them to optimise their service
Experience of working on large contracts and negotiating terms and conditions
Proven track record of supporting stakeholder engagement within a highly regulated environment
Ability to understand and develop cost management
Experience of ERP Systems
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Experience of managing, analysing data and generating reports

Salary: £35k+ Depending on Experience

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, testing and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
