As a Services Engineer at Rare you will be responsible for building and maintaining the backend services that power Sea of Thieves. Working within the Services team you will work closely with Gameplay and Operations to deliver experiences that will surprise and delight our players.
Working on a cutting-edge Azure platform you will also be responsible for helping and guiding Rare to adapt to an ever-changing landscape of cloud services and infrastructure.
The services team are also responsible for Client-Side integration of services meaning that you will be working directly in the Unreal Engine game client.
As an Engineer at Rare, you'll tackle tough problems with little guidance and will help to set the direction of the group you're working with. Continued development and ongoing improvement of services that support Sea of Thieves.
Provide services to support new Sea of Thieves features.
Be an ongoing advocate of future technology and guide services implementation in future Rare titles.
5+ years of experience developing online services.
Recent professional experience developing in C++.
Experience with high volume messaging architectures (RabbitMQ, EventHubs, Akka).
Experience with modern services architecture and cloud hosting (Azure Service Fabric, RM, Kubernetes)
Experience with Unreal Engine 4 is highly desirable.
