To undertake the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor for the delivery of major projects to meet defined customer objectives adopting a variety of procurement types.
To assist the Associate/Projects Director or other defined line manager in business management, sales and the running of a cost consultancy team and subsequent achievement of project and business goals.
Responsible for:
- Key project and business communication
- Achieving profitability on projects
- Working within Group and Unit directives and Corporate Governance
- Maintaining the project based Quality, Environmental and Safety documentation
- Delivery of projects in line with customer objectives and contracted stage of work
- Managing team development through the Performance Development Review (PDR) system
- Acting as a coach or mentor to more junior staff
Duties include:
- Assist with the management of a Cost Consultancy team
- Act as the project manager in the context of the company business management system
- Take part in contract reviews relating to the contract with the customer
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports/liaison with sub-divisional manager
- Assist with securing new and repeat business in line with the sub-divisional budget
- Comply with QES system and Group/Unit directives
- Preparation of estimates and cost plans in line with the brief
- Provision of financial advice including the impact of inflation
- Advise on contract procurement
- Assist in the development of programmes for the delivery of our services
- Preparation of standard documentation - reports, valuations, letters, financial statements etc
- Preparation of tender documents as required by procurement choice (including Bills of Quantities)
- The analysis of tenders and preparing tender reports at all stages of procurement
- Prepare valuations and financial statements; re-measure as necessary and adjust variations
- Assist in the settlement of construction disputes and prepare and agree final accounts
- Produce financial fee report for post contract review
- Attendance at design team and progress meetings as necessary
- Degree qualified in a Quantity Surveying subject (or equivalent)
- MRICS qualified
- Proven skills and experience of delivering within a Cost Consultancy
- Demonstrable track record of working in the management services environment
- Flexibility in work location and travel
- Excellent report writing skills
- Ability to prioritise and able to work under pressure
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Effective time management
- Previous experience of working on nuclear projects preferred
