Principal Waste and Resource Management Consultant

The Senior or Principal Consultant will be based in any one of Mott MacDonald's Leeds, Croydon, Altrincham, London or Southampton offices but will be required to partake in overseas assignments and attend meetings in other offices across the UK. He/she will be required to contribute to, and project manage waste projects in a growing international market with an increasing number of sector opportunities. This may involve working independently or as part of a team depending on the type of project, and may also involve contributions to other environmental disciplines.

The position will be based in the UK but it will involve frequent travel and the potential for overseas project inputs. The Senior or Principal Consultant should have a degree or masters in civil engineering, environmental sciences/management, sustainability or other related disciplines with further specialist qualifications in solid waste management and will be chartered or working towards chartership. He/she will also have significant project management experience with a strong emphasis on waste and resource management both nationally and internationally and will be required to work on projects that feature:

  • Solid waste management and treatment;
  • Waste modelling and logistics;
  • Technical and environmental due diligence;
  • Waste facility design and feasibility;
  • Waste management strategies and master-plan.

You will be required to build close working relationships with our existing technical teams, local MM offices and other potential local partners to develop strategies and build teams for winning and delivering projects. The job will require technical delivery but will also include some business development and proposal writing. Experience in working in the waste management sector with international clients and working overseas will be advantageous as will a background in consultancy or waste procurement. The position will be based in the UK but it will involve travelling within the UK and also overseas on some of the international projects. Therefore, overseas experience is highly desirable.
