Would you like to lead the Engineering Team for our Small Arms Ammunitions Business? We currently have a vacancy for a Chief Engineer at our site in Radway Green, Cheshire.
As a Chief Engineer, you will be working as part of our IDT (Integrated Delivery Team) Management Team, managing all aspects of Engineering including project engineering, support to manufacture, quality function, gauge test centre (GTC) and onsite testing facility. You will be responsible and accountable for the technical integrity, product safety, compliance with contractual, legal & regulatory requirements and environmental standards of the delivered solutions. You will also ensure the product designs in the Light Munitions IDT are safe, fit for purpose and meet all requirements.
This role will provide you with the ability to develop and grow with the business, the Small Arms Ammunition Delivery Team work with a small business mind-set so you will be able to drive change and development of programmes quicker than other areas of the business whilst you are still supported by the wider business. Your role will be varied, and you will have wide exposure to all projects/programmes within the IDT from concept to implementation. You will work with clients and have the opportunity to embed yourself in the management team as the subject matter expert around engineering.
Your main responsibilities as a Chief Engineer will involve:
Delegated product safety authority, technical authority and engineering authority for the light munitions delivery stream
Managing all engineers allocated to the light munitions delivery stream
Collaborating with customers, suppliers, and partners on all technical aspects relating to the light munitions delivery stream
Chairing independent design reviews and/or technical bid reviews as appropriate
Managing directly and overseeing indirectly the technical delivery of multiple projects, including compliance, quality and delivery to cost and time
Responsible for the light munitions development programmes
Responsible for the integrity of the test facility output and general day to day coordination of proofing activity.
Ensuring the independent running and integrity of the output of the GTC.
Leading the generation and delivery of long term strategies for product development, process development, technology and engineering capability.
Your skills and qualifications:
Degree Level Qualification in a Mechanical and/or Manufacturing Discipline
ISOH Qualification OR Demonstration of substantive experience in Safety
Experience working in an Engineering Management role
Experience of working in the Manufacturing Sector OR Similar
Chartered or working towards a Chartership
Experience of working in the Defence Sector or on UKMOD Contracts
Experience of entering products into service
