Retail and Consumer Goods (R&CG) is a coverage business within the wider Consumer & Tech team. It forms part of the Corporate Institutional Coverage (CIC) division. CIC is responsible for the overall management of relationships for Corporate and Financial Institutional clients, whose turnover exceeds £100m. Consisting of 8 Sectors, the team are passionate about being a globally coordinated and capital efficient corporate bank, providing a gateway to the UK and Helping Britain Prosper.

R&CG are looking for an individual with robust Relationship Management experience to drive the Northern R&CG business. You will be a motivated self-starter with the proven ability to develop and implement a strategic plan and objectives.

The R&CG team engage Clients across a whole range of balance sheet solutions ranging from optimal funding and liquidity strategies all the way through to working capital solutions and holistic hedging strategies to manage the inherent financial risks. The key to our success is a deep understanding of our Clients alongside continuous interaction with Credit, Risk and the Delivery functions of the firm as well as our product partners beyond CIC, to deliver the requirements of our Clients.

R&CG are looking for an individual with robust Relationship Management experience to drive the Northern R&CG business. You will be a motivated self-starter with the proven ability to develop and implement a strategic plan and objectives.

The role will involve leading a designated portfolio of largely Northern based R&CG Clients such as Morrisons, Co-op, JD Sports, Greggs, Pets at Home. You will market the full range of products and services to their Clients, in order to achieve an acceptable level of profit, risk and return in line with agreed business plans. To facilitate this, you must have the ability to influence and persuade by building trusting and reciprocal relationships. You are required to communicate effectively at all levels and across different audiences through logical ordering of points. This role provides a tremendous opportunity for you to drive and lead our targeted growth aspirations.

Whilst we would expect you to be regularly present in the region to drive Client dialogue and the R&CG team in Manchester, we have complete flexibility in your own personal location.

Accountabilities

  • Responsibility for a portfolio of Client relationships for all products that are aligned with all key partners. Understand the trends and activities of Clients within the specific Industry
  • Prepare a strategic business plan for the Northern R&CG portfolio within your remit to meet customer profitability requirements and business objectives
  • Review client proposals to meet their requirements and find opportunities to develop further income, recommending and implementing the appropriate solutions
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of credit facilities and services after consulting with all appropriate parties. Prepare the proposal in partnership with Credit and Risk colleagues to seek approval for global credit exposure
  • Prepare and present responses to invitations to tender for new and existing business, liaising with other specialist providers to maximise the potential for overall business returns
  • Develop business leads and introductions, as appropriate, to maximise business growth for the Group
  • Scope review, negotiate and implement legal and other documents ensuring compliance with credit sanction, Bank and regulatory policy to minimise risk
  • Lead, motive, develop and appraise team members, so that their individual and collective performance meets the current and future needs of the business

This role is considered Certified under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime as either requiring mandatory qualifications or being deemed as a role capable of providing ‘significant harm’ to customers. Due to this, successful candidates and will be subject to enhanced levels of vetting, and required to complete a fitness and propriety attestation on commencement in role. Colleagues performing this role will be required to be complete a fitness and propriety attestation on an annual basis and will also be subject to additional routine criminal and credit checks

This role has been identified as a Client-dealing function under SYSC 27.8.18R as defined in the FCA Handbook

The Person (“P”) performs the client-dealing FCA certification function for a firm if:

(2) those activities will involve P dealing with:
(a) a person with or for whom those activities are carried out; or
(b) the property of any such person;
in a manner substantially connected with the carrying on of regulated activities by the firm.

If you manage certified colleagues this role will be identified as Manager of certification employees under SYSC 27.8.13R as defined in the FCA Handbook
(1) The function of managing or supervising a certification employee, directly or indirectly, is an FCA-specified significant-harm function.
(2) A function in (1) is not an FCA certification function for that firm if it is performed by an SMF manager of that firm.
