Export Control Officer
Would you like a varied role working in a busy environment in the Naval Ships Business Unit and support the Export Control Team? We currently have a vacancy for a key role in Export Controls.
You will be responsible for understanding, applying and implementing Export Control compliance obligations. Activities will include answering queries from colleagues, administrative duties, recordkeeping, research skills and ability to juggle priorities.
This role will provide you with an opportunity to build a stakeholder network across the wider business and build a career in Compliance.
Your main responsibilities as an Export Control Officer will involve:
Being a key point of contact for day to day advice and guidance within the business on export control regulatory and procedure requirements.
Making recommendations on cases as to what is permissible under the relevant export control rules.
Undertaking the implementation of export control policies and procedures in support of the Manager.
Supporting export control improvement activities.
Providing support in the audit and assurance process ensuring that compliance is being adhered to across business sites, projects and functions.
Undertaking Export Control Investigations in accordance with the mandated requirements of the Group Compliance and Voluntary Disclosure procedure from capture to resolution.
Keeping and maintaining accurate export control records.
Your skills and qualifications:
Previous experience in a similar role with an understanding of license regulations – experience of both UK and US regulations is preferred
Prior exposure to compliance or assurance work is required and an understanding of regulatory environments is preferred
Excellent attention to detail, thoroughness of approach, and good record keeping experience
Background in either defence, manufacturing or engineering environments preferred
Ability to conduct effective investigations and audits

Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build and manage effective relationships with a number of stakeholders. You will need the ability to take ownership and make decisions with good problem solving skills.
Location: Any Naval Ships site including Glasgow, Portsmouth, Filton, Dorchester , New Malden or Frimley
