QC Inspector – Small Boats

Are you fully conversant with the Quality Management Systems and would like to be part of our team that ensures product compliance for the Small Boats business? We currently have a vacancy for a QC Inspector at our site in Portsmouth.

As a QC Inspector for Small Boats, you will be part of the team that has been set up to manufacture and repair a wide range of military specification small boats for both the Ministry of Defence and other military and commercial customers. You will work within the manufacturing department of Small Boats covering the quality aspects of boat refit, repairs, operational defects and upgrades. You will ensure that products are fully compliant to drawing / purchase order requirements and fully conversant with local workmanship standards as applicable.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a dynamic, interesting and growing business being part of the cutting-edge technology and future development of a wide range of MOD boat classes. Your main responsibilities as a QC Inspector – Small Boats will involve:

Correcting quality control and assurance of all work in association with small boats ensuring compliance with all business requirements.

Undertaking routine QC inspection activities without immediate supervision

Supporting customer acceptances as required

Supporting internal and external audits as required

Having a clear understanding of and being able to apply local Management System policies, procedures and processes

Independently liaising/ interfacing with appropriate areas of the business as required.

Independently working off home site unsupervised at either P&TS or customer sites.

Making independent decisions – assessing issues and supporting/progressing resolution.

Representing the company and self in a professional manner

Quality control and assurance of all documentation.

Your skills and qualifications:


Knowledge of maritime boats / ships

Have a detailed knowledge of Defence industry and ISO9001/ AS9100D standards

Knowledge and understanding of regulatory standards and third-party certification

Practical experience of Quality Assurance tools and processes, especially root cause analysis.

Knowledge and application of Advance Product Quality Planning would be an advantage.

Understanding of customer Quality Assurance requirements and expectations

Knowledge of the design and product lifecycle

You will have worked within Quality Assurance

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office packages

Manufacturing/ boats background

Technical skills background


Knowledge of SAP

Knowledge of RIB’s
