Design Engineer 3
Would you like to be involved in producing the physical product definition against a set of system functional requirements from multiple sources? We currently have a vacancy for a Design Engineer 3 at our site in Brough, East Yorkshire.
As a Design Engineer 3, you will be responsible for the design, development, manufacture, clearance and in-service support of fixed wing combat and training aircraft, and unmanned air vehicles.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to expand your knowledge base and experiences quickly and become familiar with a wide range of topics across various platforms.
Your main responsibilities as a Design Engineer 3 will involve:
The capabilities of design engineers comprise a range of sub-skills in the creation of solutions to satisfy conceptual, preliminary definition and detail design, verification/compliance, build/assembly and in-service support lifecycle phases
A multitude of tasks including but not limited to, creation of design concept schemes, generation of detail, assembly and installation drawings, generation of estimates, answering production support Works Query Notes and concessions, generation of qualification and clearance documentation, support to in-service Customer queries
Producing the physical product definition against a set of system functional requirements from multiple sources
Design deliveries are produced for manufacturing and through-life upgrades
A variety of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) applications toolset versions are used in the creation and upgrades of design definition to achieve customer requirements, in compliance with functional and business processes
Your skills and qualifications:
Proven experience of being able to interpret engineering data and requirements and convert them into a Mechanical Design solution
Proven experience of using tools such as CATIA v5 CAD system and a Product Manager toolset etc. at a higher level
Proven experience of working within either an Aerospace, Aeronautical, Fastjet, Military, Automotive and/or Transportation environment
Proven experience of solving engineering problems within a fast-paced environment
Working knowledge of Design Product Definition System (DPDS) and/ or any other Product Manager toolset
A very strong background within airframe design
Strong knowledge of BAE SYSTEMS manufacturing process specifications
Any previous work experience with Typhoon, Hawk and/or F35

You must have good oral and written communication skills to exchange factual information, respond to queries, provide explanation of technical works undertaken and produce reports, specifications and processes. You will be analytical, interpretive and evaluative thinking to solve problems by examination and analysis of information and hold good interpersonal and team skills.

Salary: £ 38’701+
