Scotland's Railway covers a large geographical area from the Borders to Thurso at the far tip of the North East of Scotland, accounting for almost 20 per cent of the UK rail network. We provide rapid access along busy commuter routes to our seven cities, servicing the varied needs of our business and leisure commuter services, including cross border services and rural services. We have up to 50 freight services operating every day and we are steadily building capacity for this to grow.

Brief Description

Due to the fast paced, delivery focused nature of the Network Rail's Infrastructure Projects in Scotland, Network Rail is recruiting for an Assistant Information Controller who will be an experienced Document/Information Controller for the project. The Assistant Information Controller will also be responsible for integrating Bentley systems ProjectWise and AssetWise into the project teams and will receive additional support from existing team members to make this happen.

The core duty of this role is to provide an excellent document control service to the Network Rail project teams and drive high standards on document/information control internally and externally, with our suppliers. You will also be expected to lead and close problems when they emerge and help embed a culture of high standards for document control within the team where you will receive the support of senior management to help with this. Ideally, we're looking for a pro-active and enthusiastic individual with previous Document Control experience.

About the role (External)

Key Accountabilities

1.Support the implementation and roll-out of CCMS, a major company initiative to move to an integrated document management system, for all Infrastructure Investment assets at allocated location.

2.Provide support, advice and supervision of general users and project teams to enable consistent CCMS implementation.

3.Act as local Administrator (CCMS technical support), to enable full document control for projects at location for authorised personnel, mitigating any system and document control and flow issues:

a.Monitor user administration processes.

b.Resolve queries via Assyst and liaise with IM.

c.Organise and deliver training to new staff and Team Organisers.

d.Create and import documents.

e.Create and maintain accurate user accounts.

f.Create and maintain document templates and attributes lists.

g.Deal with requests in accordance with procedures and SLA's.

h.Enforce systems security by creating and maintaining security profiles and running security audits.

i.Manage Upgrades of new version.

j.Channel feedback, new requirements and fixes from users to CCMS project.

4.Maintain and communicate all CCMS processes and procedures, as they develop, to location including information flows with external suppliers.

5.Support Information Controller and deputise as necessary.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications


    Experience of implementation of integrated document control systems.

      Relevant successful experience of document management processes and techniques.

        Experience in IT user administration.

          Systems management experience.

            Training experience.

              Methodical with ability to work in a changing environment.

                Experience working in a customer related environment.

                  Communications skills.

                    Advanced use of Microsoft Office.


                      Knowledge of the railway industry.

                        Knowledge of Guide for Railway Investment Projects or similar methodology.

                          Experience of Assyst.

                            Experience of CCMS.
