IT Security Engineer
Would you like to work as part of a team safeguarding BAE Systems UK enterprise IT infrastructure against cyber threats using the IT Security Technical Control Software solutions and compensating controls? We currently have vacancies for an IT Security Engineer at our site in Preston (other UK wide locations considered).
As an IT Security Engineer, your day to day role will be to proactively install, manage and update toolsets as required, whilst continuously working towards organisational, departmental and individual objectives and uphold security standards and principles.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a Cyber Security Environment whilst using the toolsets and projects in a large network enterprise environment. This is not a typical network engineer or analyst role therefore knowledge of networking for troubleshooting is required. This role could also lead to future opportunities with the team or wider BAE Systems Business.
Your main responsibilities as an IT Security Engineer will involve:
Production of targeted and concise documentation that can be easily understood by service stakeholders
Maintain an excellent working relationship with BAE Systems peers, to ensure a consistency of approach both internally to BAE Systems and externally to industry working groups.
Understand current as well as emerging security threats and design security architectures to mitigate threats where possible.
Stay abreast of new security technologies/solutions and integrate into security architecture design when and where appropriate
Deputise for Senior Security Engineers when required.
Your skills and qualifications as an IT Security Engineer:
Knowledge of SIEM toolsets
Experience of managing network and cyber security infrastructure / toolsets, including firewalls, IDS / IPS, endpoint protection, network security, network architecture. (Palo Alto, Cisco etc)
A strong technical background with a proven experience in an IT Security role
A strong understanding of network cyber security infrastructure / toolsets and its management, including firewalls, IDS / IPS, endpoint protection, network security, network architecture. (Cisco, Palo Alto, etc)
Good understanding of architecture and configurations of large scale networks (30,000+ devices) and the underlying security technologies
Experience of working with system management toolsets in a technical capacity
Background of prior experience of information/cyber security (Government or commercial sector).
Knowledge and understanding of security toolsets
ITIL Process awareness & demonstrable usage
Working on Enterprise environments in a Cyber role
Anti-Virus / Anti-Malware / OS Hardening
Product specific - Engineering installation support & maintenance of Splunk and or McAfee,
