Brief Description

Do you have LV design knowledge?

Do you have experience of making electrical calculations using modelling software?

Do you want to work with a wide- range of stakeholders to make our railway better and make a lasting difference to our passengers and customers?

Network Rail Design Delivery (NRDD) provide a managed service for design delivery through a regionally-structured, multi-disciplinary organisation and relationships with supply chain design organisations. NRDD bring a range of different specialisations including Signalling, E&P- LV, B&C and Track Design that complement each other to add value and improve the overall diverse service offering.

About the role (External)

This role is within our E&P - LV discipline where we provide LV design for resignalling projects, level crossings, S&C Renewals and conduct LV site surveys for the various projects we do.

In this role, you will undertake LV designs which include; conducting site surveys, drawing production using CAD software and making electrical calculations using modelling software. You will also write design reports for GRIP stages 1-5 and apply for DNO utility connections and alterations.

In this role ideally but not essential you will need to have LV design knowledge and experience with; points heating and signalling power, BS7671 electrical design within a rail environment and various earthing systems (TN, TT and IT). In addition, you will have knowledge of electrical modelling software and CAD software experience i.e. ETAP, Hevacomp, Microstation and ProjectWise. You will also have great technical writing skills for engineering/ design reports and experience with Installation and/or maintenance of E&P assets.

The key essential things you will need to have are

  • An engineering degree or equivalent industry-recognised training qualification.

  • A demonstrable aptitude for option development.

  • Strong evaluation and decision-making skills.

  • A working knowledge of rail engineering; relevant successful experience working in the principal discipline and an adequate understanding of all other related disciplines.

  • An ability to work and communicate effectively in a team context.

  • An appreciation of all the life cycle stages of rail infrastructure.

  • CDM, Risk assessment and external audit competency.

How to apply (External)

Network Rail adheres to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range:

Salary £40,107 - £45,120 per annum
