Apprentice and Skills Development Coach

Would you like to work within a rewarding role, unlocking the potential within the apprentices? We currently have a vacancy for a Skills Development Coach (Electrical) at our sites in Glasgow (Scotstoun & Govan)

As a Skills Development Coach (Electrical) you will be required to deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices that engage and inspire apprentices to fulfil their individual potential and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to successfully progress into the business.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to help shape the apprenticeship programme being based in the Naval Ships, Glasgow. We invest £90m into our Early Careers and Skills Programmes annually, with 2,000 Apprentice learners currently in the UK.

Your main responsibilities as a Skills Development Coach (Electrical) will involve:

Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices that engage and inspire apprentices to fulfil their individual potential and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to successfully progress into the business.

Develop apprentices that are innovative thinkers and creative problem solvers, through designing and delivering learning content as part of a blended learning pedagogy focused on delivering vocational excellence.

Take professional pride in their role and embrace continuous professional development opportunities in support of delivering innovative and impactful teaching, learning and assessment.

Coach apprentices to reach their full potential by providing key support, mentoring, challenge and motivation throughout all aspects of their learning journey.

Assess and monitor learner progress & performance in line with the apprenticeship frameworks/ standards and the occupational expectations of the business.

Maintain and record data in accordance with BAE Systems, SDS and awarding body requirements


Skilled engineering professional with occupational competence within Electrical

Completed an apprenticeship or equivalent in electrical

Industrial electrical maritime experience would be highly desirable


Training & Development qualifications S/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

Assessor Award qualification

Verifier Award

You should have strong interpersonal skills, with excellent coaching skills with effective stakeholder management. You will have demonstrable team working characteristics, be highly organised and detail conscious.

Salary: £34,588+ dependent on skills and qualifications
