Support Integration Engineer

Would you like to be a part of a fast-growing, exciting project that is taking new steps in preventative ship maintenance across the latest Royal Navy fleet of ships? We currently have a vacancy for a SupportIntegrationEngineer at our site in Portsmouth.

As a Support Integration Engineer, you will be you will be a key part of the SIE project, which is currently in a period of growth with additional types of ships and international customers in scope. This project will offer the opportunity to work with these international customers and external 3rd party suppliers.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on an exciting, international project within a growing team as well as excellent prospects for career development at BAE.

Your main responsibilities as a Support Integration Engineer will involve:

Working alongside end-users, OEMs and the data analytics team to determine signal schedule

Delivering Sie (Systems Information Exploitation)/3rd party deployment

Defining and leading the activities to stand up a candidate system for end-to-end and acceptance testing

Managing the deployment of the system to a platform and its integration to the platform

Anticipating system failure when deployed and providing corrective or degraded actions to be taken

Providing clear guidance to platform users of how to achieve predefined tasks through documentation and in-person handover activities

Assessing the performance of the system to identify ‘hot spots’ or areas of concern should behaviour of the data and system change

Defining and tuning the system to handle modelled performance limits

Defining and implementing mechanisms to understand how SIE is working during both testing phases and in service

Extending instrumentation as needed to understand or be able to deduce the health of the system

Defining and implementing degraded states and capability availability should a failure occur

Your skills and qualifications as a Support Integration Engineer:


Previous experience of working in a DevOps or Integration Engineer role

Java performance enhancements experience

Linux administration experience

Degree in Software Engineering, strongly related subject or relevant work experience


Experience of working within Engineering and Operations environment

Previous experience of working with both software and hardware

Integration framework (e.g. Apache Camel)

Performance testing tools experience

Experience with - SQL, NoSQL & git

Relevant administration certification (e.g. Network+, Linux+, RHCSA, LFCS) or relevant work experience

What we're looking for in you:

You will be capable of communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, management, and externally, such as articulating challenges with process or system-under-test to non-technical stakeholders & delivering insights to the team about how the system can remain testable. You will be able to work autonomously while supporting others within the test team.
