Mott MacDonald is a global management, engineering and development consultancy adding value for public and private clients on agenda-setting, next-generation projects worldwide. Mott MacDonald's economics team works for a wide range of clients across many sectors including transport, the environment, health, urban development, power and consumer services.

Due to increased business we are looking to recruit Senior Consultants for our Economics team. These posts can based in any of our major offices, including central London, Birmingham, Cambridge, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Glasgow. You will work on a wide range of projects in many sectors, preparing economic and socio-economic impact assessments and undertaking evidence reviews, data analysis, stakeholder interviews and engagement. You'll develop both qualitative and quantitative research tools as well as further develop our existing models within the economics team. In addition to this, you will respond to client briefs, work with clients, and manage projects both effectively and profitably.
Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Manage and deliver projects and deliverables
  • Produce reports, action plans and presentations
  • Work on a broad range of five-case-business-cases and related feasibility studies

You have both a personal and professional interest in economic, social and spatial development with an enthusiasm to work in a collaborative team environment for a range of public and private sector clients. You've previously worked in similar roles, most likely within a multi-disciplinary consultancy or the public or voluntary sectors. Throughout your career you have had the opportunity to work on projects in the fields of transportation, land-use planning, regeneration, development economics, community and social development, energy and the environment.
You will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A degree in Economics, Economic Development, Finance, Social Science, Geography or a related discipline
  • Experience working in a commercial environment
  • Experience delivering impact assessments, economic and financial appraisal and project evaluation
  • Familiarity with HM Treasury Green Book and five-case business cases.

It would be great if you have project management experience and have managed projects or parts of projects including technical aspects and commercial elements. Additionally, you will be able demonstrate your successes in business development, writing business cases and winning new work.
