Role Title: Hedge Funds Portfolio Manager

Role Purpose

  • Assist the senior London PMs in terms of portfolio management, clients servicing, operations, trading flows, exposure monitoring, P&L attribution, risk management and reporting
  • Manage existing and new HF mandates
  • Develop the HF mandate and Fund of funds solutions business in London (Marketing, Client/Prospect meetings)
  • Act as a Hedge funds product specialist to assist the Front office lines
  • Assist the HF research: data collection, peer group analysis, HF managers’ meetings

Key Accountabilities

  • Reconcile the exposures and cash level across the HF portfolios
  • Assist the senior PMs on the trades implementations
  • Make the link between the PMs and the operations teams in London, Geneva and Asia.
  • Use the statistical and data analysis tools to compute p&l attributions
  • Produce clients’ reports
  • Participate in product development activities
  • Assist the senior PMS in calls with client
  • Assist the HF research to produce analysis on HF strategies, managers, memo, monthly updates, and annual reviews
  • Working across the PM teams and the research teams

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Support the portfolio management and research teams, collaborate with the operations team and the global investment teams with external and internal channels
  • Represent AMG’s investment philosophy and process in an appropriate way.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Be an excellent team player and work alongside other Portfolio Managers in a support role
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and ability to interact with the PM, Research and Operations teams and to effectively link with other units of the broader asset management organization (such as offices in Hong Kong etc.)

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Be able to work independently and to take initiative
  • Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Support Portfolio Managers and the head of the team to develop and maintain a research, analytics and risk framework for the team
  • Demonstrate ability to organize work independently
  • Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines
  • Provide regular updates on projects. Very much involved in development of desk and firm wide technology solutions

Management Risk

  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge on Regulatory & Compliance matters, Maintain awareness of operational risk minimize the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance with section B.1.2 of the Group Operations FIM

Observation of Internal Controls

  • Maintain and observe HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators. Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Regional Compliance Officer, Area Compliance or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training is provided, and optimizing relations with regulators
