Infrastructure Engineer (Junior)

Job Type:Full Time

FundApps is a bootstrapped SaaS scaleup that helps investment managers monitor and comply with worldwide regulations. We were one of the world's first "RegTechs" and we're shaking up an entire industry. Our client's love what we do (Net Promoter Scores of over 50) and this has lead to phenomenal and consistent revenue growth.

Our first area of focus was to help managers with Shareholding Disclosure, a complex regulatory problem without a decent solution in the market. We were first to licence legal information from aosphere, an affiliate of Allen & Overy, which underpins some of our rule packages. Since that time, our product has become the undisputed market leader for the management of Shareholding Disclosure. We have also added new ground-breaking services - Sensitive Industries and Position Limits - and in 2020, have introduced Rapportr to make reporting simple for our clients.

We've won multiple accolades from organisations such as Wired, The Financial Technologist, World Economic Forum and Deloitte. We have a stellar list of high-profile clients, including 3 of the world's 10 largest hedge funds. In total we monitor over $12 trillion in assets under management every single day - this represents ca. 15% of global assets! Better yet, we're just getting started! We have a massive addressable global market and are completely bootstrapped, so have a great amount of freedom in deciding our own destiny.

We're a small team (currently ca. 70 people) of smart, friendly people with 30 nationalities at last count. We have offices in London, New York and Singapore and employees spread across the globe. In 2018, we became a Certified B Corporation and in 2019 were recognised as a B Corp 'Best for the World' Honouree - highlighting our commitment to doing good by our people, the environment and the community.

We ❤️ clean, simple code

We're a small team of smart, friendly people who collaborate closely and take pride in delivering amazing software and providing extraordinary customer support. You’ll help shape what we work on and how we do it. You won’t be micro-managed or stuck in a rut. We work hard on challenging problems and have a good time doing it.

We believe focusing on automation, testing and code quality enables us to move faster than our competitors whilst delivering better software. Our team values are professionalism, sustainability, and psychological safety; we hold each other to high standards, give each other considered, caring feedback, work smart and look out for each other. We are looking for a Junior Infrastructure Engineer to help FundApps take the next step on our journey to make compliance simple. You will help grow a small team of DevOps engineers, support the evolution of our stack and keep our customer’s data safe, secure and
available. We are looking for people who have already made a promising start to their career and are looking to consolidate and further grow their experience.

The Role

  • Operations. Our customers are located in most global financial centres. We cover almost 100 jurisdictions. Meeting the availability demands and operability challenges will be part of your role. You will be expected to be available to support and diagnose critical issues outside of core hours (with additional compensation for this). As we grow you will help design the 24x7 production support function in collaboration with Customer Support and Software Engineers.
  • Security. Our customers have high standards, so our practices must measure up. You will help implement security policies and controls that give comfort to large financial institutions whilst allowing the organisation to remain lean and move fast.
  • Infrastructure. Our stack is changing. We are moving away from a monolithic n-tier architecture towards a modern, cloud native approach using AWS services wherever possible. You will contribute to the build and operational management of highly scalable, secure and available infrastructure.
  • Automation. We continuously look into ways to deliver values to our customers at a faster pace. You will contribute to improve the company's ability to deliver applications and services at high velocity: evolving and improving products at a faster pace using tools and automation to continuously improve our software development/deployment and infrastructure management processes.
  • DevOps. You’ll work across projects and tech stack, championing good practices with development teams, sharing knowledge across the whole department, and bringing your knowledge to a wide variety of situations.

  • Our tech stack

  • We like to use the best tools for the job and you'll have full input into what our stack evolves into. We're currently using:
  • AWS: EC2, S3, Step Functions, Lambda, Fargate, SQS and others
  • IaC: Terraform, Serverless Framework
  • Monitoring: DataDog, PagerDuty
  • CI/CD: TeamCity, Octopus, Github Actions
  • Languages: C#, Javascript (React)
  • Legacy: Windows, SQL Server 2017
  • What you'll be working on

  • Evaluating and selecting appropriate infrastructure solutions and seamlessly integrating them
  • Build, configure, and troubleshoot on our cloud infrastructure and network
  • Automate tasks and monitor our network efficiency
  • Support team members on infrastructure and security issues
  • Implement and test security measures (e.g. access authentication, monitoring tools), and support delivery teams in using them.
  • Ensure infrastructure measures, procedures, documentation and training are in place e.g. for security, onboarding
  • Identifying scalable improvements to our infrastructure and network performance
  • We don't expect you to tick every box; if you get warm fuzzy feelings about what we're trying to achieve at FundApps, then we want to hear from you!

NOTE: Covid-19 has taken us out of our offices so we'll be running our recruitment and onboarding process virtually.
