About the role:

We are looking to recruit a Head of Business Insight to report to the Finance Director. In this role you will lead the development of industry leading business insight which will inform strategic decisions that will enhance the customer, colleague and stakeholder experience whilst identifying opportunities for cost control and efficiency across the business.

Working collaboratively, you will provide a strategic framework, direction, and oversight to improve the provision of management information which will help to promote a better understanding of the business’s operation, market, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the custodian of the data and business insight strategy, instilling Governance and ensuring that the approach is aligned to the objectives outlined in the business plan.

  • Collaborate with all areas of the business to ensure the provision of detailed qualitative and quantitative reports to senior stakeholders, allowing informed strategic decisions to be taken to improve business performance

  • Work with each Directorate team, lead the use of management information and business intelligence tools to provide high quality strategic business insight, providing a deeper understanding of the business operations and customer experience.

  • Work with the IS Team to deliver the acquisition and lifecycle management of analytical tools and reviewing the demand for new and emerging technologies with each Directorate team.

  • Be the subject matter expert to advise and work with each function upskilling and improving business intelligence across Operations, Engineering, Planning, Strategic Development, Safety & Environment, HR, Commercial and Finance.

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to representatives from all functions, developing industry leading data management and business insight capability across the business.

  • Work with all areas of the business to provide insightful analysis on performance trends against key objectives, identifying areas for future opportunities and potential risks, and making clear recommendations to improve performance.


About you:

To be successful in the role you will:-

  • Be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience)
  • Be highly numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated proven commercial and financial acumen
  • Have significant experience of using analytics to deliver tangible insights
  • Be an effective stakeholder manager with the confidence and ability to influence others through a business partner approach
  • Have outstanding communication skills, able to present complex information to all audiences
  • Demonstrate the ability to motivate, communicate and deliver in a complex organisation
