Would you like an exciting new opportunity, in our growing forward-thinking record to report department? We currently have a vacancy for a VAT Accountant at our site in Usk, Glascoed.
The Record to Report team is part of the Shared Services business and provides a number of back office finance activities to Business units across BAE Systems. The activities undertaken within the team include of Payroll Accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting, Month End Reporting, General Accounting, VAT and Statutory Reporting and are carried out using various technologies including robotics.
Reporting to the Senior VAT Accountant and with the support of Assistant Accountants, you will help deliver the day-to-day service of a number of VAT accounting activities to a number of business units across BAE Systems. The activities associated with this role are predominately around the VAT return process but also includes activities such as Intrastat submissions and CIS submissions.
Your main responsibilities as a VAT Accountant will involve:
Preparing (and potential review) of UK and foreign VAT returns for a large number of BAE Systems Business units
Liaising with Group Tax in relation to the VAT returns submitted
Reviewing of Intrastat and CIS returns
Preparing and/or reviewing journals and balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and suitable supporting documentation
Completing root cause analysis on invoice processing issues with regards to VAT
Working with the Accounts Payable and Account Receivable teams to make improvements to the VAT process
Providing VAT advice to BAE Systems Business units
Developing strong relationships with your finance contacts, including calls and visits across the UK where required
Developing good understanding of our processes including Timetables and Responsibilities
Supporting Robotic activities within the team
Supporting standardisation of processes
Your skills and qualifications:
ACCA/CIMA Finalist or Newly qualified
Experience of working within a Finance team
Working knowledge of UK VAT rules

Salary: £30,282 +
