QEC COM Assistant Deputy Platform Manager

Would you like to play a key role supporting or Maritime Sector? We currently have a vacancy for a QEC COM Assistant Platform Manager at our site in Portsmouth.

As a QEC COM Assistant Deputy Platform Manager, you will be responsible for assisting the deputy Platform Managers in the day to day management and co-ordination of all support activities for the allocated system groupings for the designated QEC Ship (QNLZ & PWLS). You will co-ordinate engineering support for the allocated system groupings and oversee work specifications for the nominated vessel.

This role will provide you with the ability to deliver engineering support to the latest generation of the warships. You will be working with Royal Navy staff on a daily basis, bringing together an ethos of military and industry enterprise. This role will give you the potential to advance through the ranks within the platform management area as well as working across a variety of different platforms. You will be given the opportunities to develop your technical prowess on these platforms.

Your main responsibilities as a QEC COM Assistant Deputy Platform Manager will involve:

Interfacing between the business and the customer to ensure maintenance and engineering activity is conducted

Acting as a Point of Contact for the management of support to allocated system groupings to enable the provision of a safe, capable and available ship

Managing of scope growth to any support period for the allocated systems groupings on the designated platform

Driving timely resolution to any OPDEFs for the allocated system groupings on the allocated ship

Building and maintaining relationships with key contractors, within the company (engineering support), Internal/external Ministry stakeholders and Ships Staff

Managing and report all aspects of risk to allocated system groupings

Deputising for the System Deputy Platform Managers when and where required

Your skills and qualifications as a QEC COM Assistant Deputy Platform Manager:

Essential

Depth of engineering knowledge

Stakeholder management and engagement experience

Knowledge of IT systems (MS Project, Excel, etc)

Desirable

Ideally have knowledge of SAP, UMMS, Titanium

Understanding of the immediate COM and wider business goals

Understanding and experience of the defence maritime industry, especially the MoD Maritime structure and departments

What we're looking for in you:

As an Assistant Deputy Platform Manager, you must be willing to travel abroad as well as sometimes going to sea on board a naval vessel. You may be required to work shifts during current climate. You will have developed communication and diplomacy skills and an ability to persuade and influence both internal and external stakeholders. Key to the role is excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with strong influencing skills. You will have the ability to build / improve effective and productive supplier and customer relationships. You will be capable of owning and setting short term objectives with the ability to work either as part of a team or individually.
