What would I be doing?

You will be part of the Hive Manager team in the Engineering Control Systems area.

The Hive Manager application allows Engineers in our automated warehouses to monitor and manage various aspects of the hives where stock is stored and orders are fulfilled - these include the bots, as they swarm across the storage grid to fulfil customer orders and put away stock, as well as the ‘stations’ where orders are picked or containers move into or out of the grid, but also the health of the grid itself and data about the containers and stock within the grid.

This is a full stack application, with a modern web-delivered front end, a backend that caches live data about bots and the grid, and has a database persisting extra data to assist Engineers. It communicates with other applications in the warehouse in realtime, for example fetching live information about the bots from the system that plans their activities in realtime. It is a highly available system running on AWS, and forms a critical part of our warehouse control systems. As such it is very well tested and we also maintain a close relationship with our users so that we can deliver changes in an agile iterative way, quickly improving the product and raising quality.
