About the role:

An opportunity has arisen to play an active part in achieving the On Time railway. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the On Time Performance Improvement team as Performance Implementation Manager.

Working directly within the Regions, Engineering and alongside Industry partners including Network rail, the successful candidate will bring to life and also develop continuous improvement activities to deliver an improved service to our customers. The role will lead, develop and maintain the RM3P maturity model-based approach to identify ways to grow and strengthen performance improvement delivery.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a proven track record for collaborative working, innovation and operational knowledge.

About you:

The successful candidate should have exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels within the Rail industry and influence decisions made that affect Northern operations.

You should hold a recognised Project Management Qualification and have an excellent technical knowledge of modern railway operation, and the relevant processes including performance, engineering, resource planning and operations control.

Good IT knowledge with specially relevance to rail industry IT systems and MS Office.

A good logical and common sense approach to problem solving with the ability to clearly establish the root cause of failure, and devise clear and effective strategies for dealing with the results.

A member of or willing to work towards a relevant professional industry body (for example IRO or ILT)

Applicants must hold the ability to influence, motivate, coach and co-ordinate individuals outside the direct control of the post holder to deliver projects and information to agreed timescales.

Educated to Degree level (or similar qualification), with well-developed numerate, written and presentational skills. The ability to deal with large quantities of data, analyse evidence that is often conflicting, and clearly establish the causes of performance related failures.
