About the role
With a remote workforce of more than 6,500 colleagues, Internal Communications plays an important part in how colleagues feel working for Northern by helping them understand what we are aiming to achieve as a business and the part everyone plays. This is a really exciting time to be joining the team as we start to build a new Northern under public ownership.
We have so many plans to connect our colleagues that we are expanding the internal communications team.
The role can be based in either York or Manchester with remote working options and will report to the Internal Communications Manager. With our colleagues based at a number of locations across the north, you need to be willing to travel.
Responsibilities
Manage our internal channels to ensure they are relevant, up-to-date and engaging for our colleagues
Plan, write and edit engaging, relevant, and factually accurate copy for a variety of
internal channels.
Ensure internal communications messages support Northern’s business plan, values
and vision and are aligned with external messages.
Assist in the delivery of regular leadership meetings and calls, including
sourcing content, formatting presentations, and collecting actions/ feedback.
Support business projects by providing best practice advice to ensure that
communications are consistent and in line with Northern’s Business Plan.
Develop and implement communications plans for a wide range of business projects.
Support the development and delivery of an internal reward and recognition scheme.
Deputise for other team members when required.
About you:
At least 2 years’ experience in agency or in-house corporate communications.
Excellent copy writing skills and to be able to write in a friendly, down to earth tone.
High level of IT literacy preferably with experience of digital communications channels.
Experience of creating and managing effective plans through to delivery.
A self-starter who can maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment.
A confident people person who easily builds relationships with people from all levels.
You will be educated to degree level or have relevant work experience
