Would you like to work in an exciting management role within BAE Systems Air Sector? We currently have a vacancy for a Logistics Manager across our Samlesbury and Warton sites.

As an Assembly Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the total logistics solution, its operations, organisation, strategy and processes to ensure the planning & logistics requirements for the Air Sectors Production Programmes are delivered as required.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to take a leadership role within the US Programmes Logistics Management Team, working within a fast paced, proactive and motivated environment to deliver against our commitments. It could also offer several development and progression opportunities.

Your main responsibilities as an Assembly Logistics Manager will involve:

Empowering direct reports to engage with the production businesses to support delivery of Production objectives (Safety/Quality/Cost/Delivery/People)

Defining clear accountability to deliver the scorecard objectives and supporting the business in achieving the absence and safety targets

Ensuring compliance to standard for maintenance and provision of calibrated tooling to support the Operation.

Controlling of jigs and tooling within the business and updating appropriate systems to ensure full control at all times

Ensuring safe movement of product through the facility during manufacture and packaging ready for transport

Managing and implementing the developing principles of Operational Excellence within your area of operation, (for example flow & pull, lean logistics, etc)

Interfacing with the relevant internal departments to arrange successful Export of completed product ensuring compliance with respect to all regulations e.g. ITAR

Managing a Production Logistics & Supply Chain organisation

Ensuring the consumables required in support of the operation are provisioned and controlled in line with operational requirement and budget.

Developing logistical capability resourcing solutions to achieve Strategic Workforce Planning requirements and deliver within IBP

Your skills and qualifications:


Strong business awareness and acumen with excellent communication & influencing skills

Background within Logistics and an understanding of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system and all aspects of a Production lifecycle

Significant experience of working and leading teams within an operational environment


Extensive experience in the Aerospace/Manufacturing industry

Experience of line side logistics

APICS Qualification

Supply Chain or Logistics Leadership degree

Recognition through an appropriate Professional Supply Chain body at a Chartered level i.e. CILT or equivalent
