As a data engineer, you'll specifically work closely with the Reporting Team, Analytical Community and Data Engineers to improve our understanding of the effectiveness of interactions performance by maintaining and developing the reporting data layers (RDL) that drive our commercial understanding and marketing effectiveness. In the fullness of time the expectation of the role will be to help rebuild the reporting data layer to ensure that the reporting is as flexible and efficient as possible and continue to build out an ever richer and deeper understanding of Interactions performance. This will be matched with investment, to make sure we succeed and keep the reporting layers world class and fit for the next chapter of the Groups Strategic Direction.

  • Fundamentally you'll possess advanced SQL skills (ideally Teradata) and experience of working with large datasets in a similar analytical or data modelling role
  • You'll be adept at sourcing data from strategic sources (data warehouses etc.) and comfortable building data solutions to answer business questions
  • Wider experience of other tools and technologies such as Aster, Tableau and Hadoop is also desirable
  • You'll have an appreciation of agile principles with practical experience of working in an agile environment an advantage

We're also looking for people with the right personal qualities to help us continually develop as a team. The ability to translate complicated requests into accessible and straightforward recommendations is essential alongside having a willingness to change, a growth mindset and a desire for continuing personal development. The world of data and insight is constantly evolving, as are the needs and behaviours of our customers, so our role is also to continually evolve our skills.

Our decision to recruit this role is a significant step, and reflects the strategic direction and intent we're making to continuously strive for the best - so if you've the technical analysis skills and background we're seeking then we'd like to hear from you.

This role provides the opportunity to develop personally, work flexibly and collaboratively with a results-oriented team, to help us transform our colleague experience and bring to life the Group's vision of being the Best Bank for Customers & colleagues.

We're an equal opportunity employer and deeply value diversity within our organisation.

Together we make it possible.
