Maintenance Electrician

Would you like to work within a world class organisation and supporting the UK defence needs? We currently have a vacancy for a Maintenance Electrician at our site in Portsmouth.

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will be working as part of the Operations and Maintenance team who supports the repair, maintenance and operation of the waterfront assets used for the movement and docking of vessels, as well as various items of mobile plant and machinery. Working alongside the mechanical fitters you will be carrying out routine planned maintenance, and reactive repairs on but not limited to the electrical motors, control systems and panels.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on the most advanced tools in the world which is critical to the UK's defence capabilities. You will be working in a fast-paced environment which will involve engaging with relevant stakeholders and departments. It is also an opportunity to join our growing marine business with excellent opportunities for progression within the team or wider business.

Please note that this role is a 9 months Fixed term Contract.

Your main responsibilities as a Maintenance Electrician will involve:

Developing and maintaining positive, open and honest relationships with the customer

Carrying out logic circuit control systems

Carrying out basic electrical fault finding and rectification

Carrying out electrical isolations and Lock Out Tag Out procedures prior to working on electrical equipment

Providing detailed defect reports to the team manager or a representative from the Chief engineer’s department

Ensuring compliance of the SHE Management System, mitigating risks and improving the overall section SHE performance

Your skills and qualifications Maintenance Electrician:

Current 18TH Edition certification

Able to read schematic electrical drawings

Competent in carrying out basic electrical fault finding and rectification

Competent with logic circuit control systems

Competent in carrying out electrical isolations and Lock Out Tag Out procedures prior to working on electrical equipment

Heavy engineering electrician with LV control panel experience

You will be self-motivated and have the ability to work unsupervised and still meet tight deadlines. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to provide information, advice and guidance where required to the customers and stakeholders. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationship with various stakeholders.
