Assistant Commercial Manager
Would you like to be part of a newly formed Engineering & Digital Services business stream (E&DS) as part of the Digital Services Commercial Team? We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Commercial Manager at our site in Filton.
As an Assistant Commercial Manager, you will provide commercial services and support to meet the operational needs of newly acquired Techmodal and the wider Digital Services Department. The successful candidate will need to be flexible, creative and bring innovative commercial ideas to help grow this business. Proven track record of review, negotiation and amendment of standard government framework agreements and understanding of contract law and intellectual property inclusive of licensing software products is critical.
This area of the business is fast paced and the candidate will need to demonstrate clear prioritisation and organisation skills inclusive of the ability to manage multiple internal stakeholders to achieve approvals to execute agreements in a timely manner to support agile growth agenda. This is a fantastic role and it will give you exposure to the wider BAE Systems.
Your main responsibilities as an Assistant Commercial Manager will involve:
Reviewing, negotiating and amending of standard government framework agreements; drafting and negotiation of collaboration and teaming agreements; understanding of contract law and intellectual property inclusive of development and licensing software products is critical.
Working with limited supervision to prioritise own workload and work in a fast paced environment with multiple reviews and sign offs required from multiple subject matter expert disciplines: data protection; legal; security; intellectual property law.
Participating in the Business Winning Capture Team, including contributing to the development of commercial proposals for potential business and the commercial review of the full suite of proposal documents.
Championing the appropriate internal governance with the Business Winning Capture Team to ensure compliance against the objective remaining agile with quick turnarounds.
Supporting Supply Chain in the preparation of sub-contract terms and conditions as required.
Leading negotiation of proposals with potential customers and ensuring that this results in acceptable business agreements and contracts.
Following receipt of customer order ensuring appropriate contract launch held with Project Delivery Team with input to monthly reporting cycle to ensure key contractual commitments met during project execution phase.
Your skills and qualifications:
In depth professional knowledge of Commercial principles, techniques and practices and understands of how Commercial roles fit in organisation as a whole
Software services agreement experience
Government contracting experience
Strong ability to analyse T&C’s for Government framework
Good knowledge of UK Defence Sector and ideally worked with non-UK customers would be desirable
