Would you like to play a key role within Electrical Engineering on the MOD Spearfish torpedo contract? We currently have a vacancy for an Electronics Engineer - Design at our site in Portsmouth within our Maritime Services business. This is a key full-time role for the Design and development of electronic assemblies, from specification through to release into service.
As an Electronics Engineer, you will undertake design and design maintenance tasks in respect of legacy products and technology insertion into legacy products. Applying a breadth of knowledge, skills and experience of engineering and company approaches, techniques and governance in the Electronics domain.
Your main responsibilities as an Electronics Engineer will involve:
Design and development of electronic assemblies, from specification through to release into service.
Maintenance of existing designs and implementation of technology insertion programmes.
Design of processor circuits and sub-systems including memory interfacing and I/O.
Component selection, schematic capture, and support to PCB layout.
Interfacing with related disciplines including mechanical/thermal engineering, ILS, Safety, and Production.
Verification of components and sub-systems using a combination of simulation, analysis, test, and assurance techniques.
Able to follow the engineering lifecycle and undertake progress, peer and design reviews.
HND/Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in Electrical Engineering
Detailed and comprehensive understanding of electronics engineering and experience to apply to a wide range of engineering issues
Knowledge of the complete Engineering Lifecycle with some experience of operating in most Lifecycle phases
A good understanding of the Product Safety Management and responsibilities for design integrity, verification and compliance with the relevant statutory legislation and regulations
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Familiar with Software, Design Office, Planning, Handbooks, Configuration Management, Standards Control, Quality Assurance, Supplier Management, ILS/ARM and Procurement processes and procedures
Knowledge and understanding of SAP
Knowledge and experience of electrical machines, test and control systems
Design for EMC and EMC test experience
Chartered engineer or willingness to achieve
