Shift: You will work on a 42 hour contract with a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (including weekends). Night shift starts from 18:00 until 06:00.

Salary: £10.59 per hour + £1.75 premium

Our Hatfield Fulfilment Centre is our most established major distribution depot. This site is an automated warehouse where all Ocado products are stored. It also facilitates our customers’ orders which are picked and dispatched, using highly sophisticated systems and processes, enabling Ocado to deliver in one hour time slots.

We at Ocado's Customer Fulfilment Centre in Hatfield require an enthusiastic individual to join our support team as a Service Support Team Member. The main responsibility for the post holder will be to be responsible for the Waste and returns. They will be required to process all waste within the CFC ensuring that it is within the legal segregation. They will also be responsible for processing all returns from customers, following the correct procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Emptying 1100 LTR Waste Bins:

  • Transporting both Food and General Waste bins to the compactor area from the holding area.
  • Processing the waste into the correct compactor and reporting any contaminated bins.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the 1100LTR Bins each time they are emptied.
  • Optimising the process.
  • Reporting any damages to the Site Support Team Manager.

Emptying Chemical Bins:

  • Transporting the Chemical Bins to the Waste safes located in the external yard.
  • Reporting any contaminated bins.
  • Decanting the contents into the Waste safes.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the bin.
  • Optimising the process.
  • Highlighting to the Site Support Team Manager when the Waste safe is full and needs emptying.

Wood skips:

  • Emptying the Wood skip once it is full.
  • Conducting daily reports on the external Wood skip.
  • Maintaining the internal Wood skip to ensure it is of good quality.
  • Optimising the process.

Cardboard bales:

  • Moving the cardboard bales from the compactor onto the curtain sider trailer.
  • Ensure the load is safe to travel.
  • Make sure both the baler area and the trailer area is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Regularly check the baler to ensure its working correctly and there’s not a build-up of cardboard bales.
  • Maximising the monetary return to the business

Shrink wrap Bales:

  • Baling the shrink wrap using the machine provided
  • Baling depleted dry ice bags
  • Transporting the bales from the internal balers to the contractor trailer.
  • Ensure the quality of the bale is okay before it is loaded.
  • Ensure the load once is safe to be transported.

FORMALISING RETURNS PROCESS AND RETURN TO STOCK:-

Processing Returns:

  • Processing all customer totes and allocating the contents to different areas i.e. Charities, Company Shop, and return to stock.
  • Removing alcohol and taking it back to its pick location.
  • Initially taking over Return to stock process from Ops support.
  • Sorting internal damages sent from pick floors and inbound, scanning products to Apple Cafe
  • Regular reports of the volume of returns.
  • Loading charity vehicles
  • Loading / unloading company shop vehicles
  • Supporting with purge pallet moves and taking allocated stock to staff shop
  • Keeping the designated areas clean and tidy.
