Project Control Lead
Would you like to play a key role within our project controls function working on the Astute Programme? We currently have a vacancy for a Project Control Lead which can be based in various submarine locations throughout the UK.
As a Project Control Lead, you will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and concise programme level project controls information to enable successful delivery of the Astute build programme. You also will have the opportunity to lead, develop and motivate Planners and Project Controllers currently embedded in delivery teams.
Your main responsibilities as a Project Control Lead will involve:
Taking direct ownership of the delivery of the Submarines Project Control System within the Astute Programme advising Programme Management and the delivery teams on its implementation and execution.
Developing and maintaining the high-level programme plan in a manner that can be implemented in a structured and coherent way into a suite of subordinate project plans in order to automate and enhance the proactive decision making of the Programme Management Team.
Ensuring best practice methods of tracking and reporting progress against a suite of defined milestones from programme through to project level.
Ensuring performance metrics are produced and are understood so as to allow performance to be reported and trends to be established thus allowing accurate forecasts to be made (Estimate At Complete).
Providing independent, specialist advice to senior managers to enable them to constructively challenge and monitor programme performance. Enabling and advising of timely management interventions if required.
Identifying and implementing continuous business improvements
Acting as a Project Control System Reviewer.
Your skills and qualifications:
Experience of working in a Project Control role
within a complex, matrix organisation with the ability to interact and brief
senior stakeholders in a concise and accurate way.
Expert level understanding of Earned Value Management techniques and experience mentoring others in techniques.
Experience of coaching and influencing others to improve performance, embed best practice and deliver continuous improvement.
Good working knowledge of a corporate project planning toolset
Degree / Certificate in Project Management or
professional qualification such as APM, IPMA, Prince2 or similar.
Practitioner knowledge of Primavera 6,
Primavera Risk Analyser, ARM tools.
Knowledge and experience of BAE Systems
submarines business processes.
Life Cycle Management Assessor.
Project Control Systems Reviewer (as part of an Integrated Baseline Review).

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
