Engineering Lead – Nuclear
Would you like to support in the design, development, integration and management of innovative nuclear build solutions that are beyond the scope of general delivery? We currently have a vacancy for a Engineering Lead – Nuclear at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As an Engineering Lead – Nuclear, you will independently lead, develop and grow a specialist team to deliver projects for novel and standard nuclear build, test and commissioning challenges from concept through to delivery for a wide range of stakeholders.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to join our Nuclear Manufacturing Engineering Department which delivers technical, Engineering and PM capability to multiple programmes.
Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Lead – Nuclear will involve:
Providing technical/engineering expertise across projects and deliver the most appropriate solution for the programme (nuclear, engineering, design, technology, process, governance)
Stakeholder management & engagement across multiple programmes
Contributing to growing the departments capability
Securing project funding, manage budgets and spend profiles
Maintaining project and engineering governance and standards
Identifying areas of improvement or streamlining
Your skills and qualifications:
Strong engineering, technology or technical design background
Strong leadership qualities – specifically the ability to lead teams, work well within teams, communicate at all levels and support team development within the nuclear sphere (technical and non-technical works)
Ability to effectively negotiate, persuade and influence up to senior management level
Strong knowledge in structured process improvement methodologies
Experience working in a Project/Programme process environment
Qualification in an engineering discipline (HNC, HND or degree) or hands on expeirnece working in a nuclear environment
Chartered engineer or working towards is highly desirable

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
