Senior Finance Accountant
Would you like a highly varied and challenging role working with the AIR function? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Finance Accountant at our site in Warton.
As a Senior Finance Accountant, you will provide and manage financial accounting, statutory reporting, tax, systems support, fixed assets, financial transactional processing and payroll services to the Statutory entities and their branches within the responsibility of the E&I Overseas team
This role is broken down into smaller teams which include Qatar and Turkey and smaller contracts.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with bigger parts of the business.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Finance Accountantwill involve:
Supporting the development of financial controls and continuous improvement initiatives within the Overseas Team. Support to the management team in project, resource and workload planning
Leading reviews with other areas of the business to understand and advise where new business may require entity and system planning, to ensure that E&I remains both tax compliant and efficient in its overseas contracting
Managing the application of the financial controls in financial accounting processes both in the UK office and with oversight of the overseas branches
Supporting the development of financial policies, processes and procedures to ensure the adoption of best practice and compliance to the Operational Framework for both the UK and overseas entities for which the Overseas Team is responsible
Managing the overall integrity of the financial accounting ledgers within the Sage accounting system through the application of good financial controls. Including the maintenance of a month end timetable and managing the month end close process. Support the team in maintaining the Sage system ensuring that it contains accurate and topical information e.g. exchange rates
Using the Sage and SAP systems manage the financial accounting transactions being undertaken in accordance with the finance policies, processes and procedures as well as the commercial and statutory requirements of the business e.g. the timely payment of suppliers and payments to taxation authorities
Controlling business balances and relationships with both internal and external parties such as, Group Tax, in country fiscal representatives and professional advisers
Managing compliance with the requirements of external parties such as in country tax authorities, UK and overseas auditors
Managing cash resources are available to meet the business commitments through effective cash management, ensuring that all the entities are compliant with FPM and local procedures. Where non-sterling transactions are to be undertaken support the business in identifying potential foreign currency risk exposures particularly in areas where new/additional business has been identified
Co-ordinating the preparation of the IBP input for all entities and branches which are the responsibility of the overseas team. Review inputs with the business and the overseas management team, ensuring accuracy, consistency and flexibility
Providing timely and accurate reporting information for both internal and external use, this will include monthly HFM inputs, forecasts and all statutory financial reporting, for the legal entities and branches that are the responsibility of the Overseas team. Specifically, responsibility for compliance with in country format requirements in South Africa and Turkey
Preparation of tax information for Group Tax and local Tax authorities. In particular the preparation of the year-end tax packs
Undertaking additional activities as necessary to support internal and external stakeholder requirements
Managing coaching and support the overseas team on financial accounting related matters. Ensure that the team understands and complies with all Air procedures e.g. Time and attendance. Complete PDRs and Development plans for all team members
Supporting in the recruitment, training and development of the members of the overseas team to ensure that responsibilities are discharged in a professional manner
Your skills and qualifications:
Fully qualified accountant
Previous experience necessary in Financial Accounting
Experience in Financial planning and reporting
Management of a “set of accountants”
Own a set of accounts
Management and project accounting and exposure to foreign currency is preferable.
A Senior Financial Accountant in the Financial Family may well have been a Management Accountant or could have been a Senior Accountant in the Project Accounting Family or Financial Planning & Reporting Family prior to this role providing previous Financial Accounting experience has been gained at a lower level in the organisation
A Senior financial accountant in a financial family will usually progress to finance manager
Presenting to stakeholders would be good but would need to re learn BAE systems
