Principal Supply Chain Manager- Supplier Development
Would you like to play a key role in supplier development within Maritime Submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Supply Chain Manager- Supplier Development at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As a Principal Supply Chain Manager- Supplier Development, you will be responsible for the development of strategic, critical and leverage suppliers across Maritime Submarines, identifying and delivering improvement initiatives to mitigate risks to quality, cost and delivery and maximising the probability of programme success, continuity and longevity of supply.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with internal & external stakeholders at all levels and to work with suppliers at a local level & also across the UK
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Supply Chain Manager- Supplier Development will involve:
Supporting the supply chain teams in key strategic supplier assessments aimed at confirming supplier capability or identifying and producing gap analysis and associated recommendations to address and capability shortfalls
Utilising intelligence and risk information to aid the development and implementation of strategies and plans to improve supply chain efficiency, performance, continuity of supply and resilience within prime and sub-tier suppliers
Working with and co-ordinating resource across multi-disciplined teams to manage specific suppliers, facilitate supplier development and improvement events, deliver against improvement plans and evidence benefit through improved supplier performance
Working across critical suppliers promoting best practice and ensuring robust processes are in place to support quality, cost and delivery requirements
Working alongside Supply Chain Programme teams in the facilitation of supplier performance data assessment, trending, analysis and the implementation of improvement actions
Providing technical support to key suppliers, including the requirement for complex problem solving to ensure the optimum solutions are generated from inception of ideas through to deployment and can demonstrate to auditors the rationale and evidence of systematic decision-making processes
Maintaining a Supplier Development Community of practice across Maritime Submarines with appropriate links across both the Maritime Sector and the BAE Systems Corporation
Delivering a Maritime Submarines Supplier Development Centre of Excellence and maintain a SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Professional) Capability across the function
Developing, deploying, maintaining and continuously improving a Maritime Submarines supplier development strategy and framework supported by applicable processes and guidance material
Facilitating the continued improvement in Supplier Compliance, including JOSCAR (Supply Chain Accreditation Register) implementation, product safety and business continuity
Managing supplier capability data and Submarines input into SDA (Submarine Delivery Agency) and SCIP (Supply Chains in Practice) process
Your skills and qualifications:
Strategic leadership experience within a Supply Chain environment
Experience across Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality
Knowledge and experience of developing tactical and strategic cost-effective manufacturing engineering solutions, from specification development, through to commercial negotiations, procurement, installation, commissioning and final acceptance
Understanding of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems including master scheduling and demand planning

Maritime – Submarines
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.
