HEAD OF SECURITY

Would you like to play a key role in leading our security programme within a complex and world class function? We currently have a vacancy for a Head of Security at our site in Portsmouth. (Remote location can be considered)

As a Head of Security, you will be the person responsible for strategic leadership and operational delivery of security across the BAE Systems Maritime Services Line of Business (LoB). The role provides oversight and direction for all aspects of security provision (Information & IT, physical and personnel Security).



You will bring a fresh approach and drive to the position which has a focus on protecting our company and customer information, IT and Info Security. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working and communicating with Director/Senior level stakeholders whilst providing guidance across a variety of complex disciplines. You will also have previous experience managing change and transformation for programmes which have developed improvements.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a function which provides some of the UKs most complex and high-profile defence programmes.

Your main responsibilities as a Head of Security will involve:

Leading the Maritime Services Security Function and business in protecting customer and company information and IT & management of other security risks to the business


Senior Leadership engagement to drive continuous Security Improvement and ensure effective governance of security


Executive sponsorship and management of a business wide ‘Security Improvement Programme’


Managing a range of senior stakeholders including the Senior Leadership Team and Programme management teams, to provide assurance that security is operating effectively as required by contracts, regulation and policy


Understanding business requirements, ensure security is postured to support business operations and support business in resolution of complex security challenges in order to best achieve the business’s strategic aims


Managing the budgetary spend, daily operation and professional development of the security Function within Maritime Services & co-ordinate wider security spend across all parts of the organisation


Acting as a point of escalation for critical security risk and incidents into the Senior Leadership Team


Providing assurance that Enterprise IT Services, Shared Services and outsourced security services are performing to agreed levels alongside locally managed security controls


Ensuring all security incidents are appropriately actioned to minimise loss, investigated and appropriate remedial action is taken


Ensuring threat information is gathered, understood and assessed to enable the business to proactively anticipate and respond to changes in levels of risk

Your skills and qualifications as a Head of Security:

Expert knowledge of information and IT Security with the ability to lead and inspire a cross-discipline security team and enable them to deliver effective security capability to the business

Significant direct experience in a security senior management role, including management of complex Information and IT Security contractual or regulatory requirements.

Ability to accurately communicate security risk implications at high levels of complexity across all levels of the business (including senior leadership), including to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and able to respond to challenge

Good commercial/procurement knowledge and demonstrated ability to develop and manage a functional expense budget, as well as co-ordinate wider organisational security spending


Relevant degree level qualifications across Information Security, risk management or wider security disciplines

Membership of sector related professional body or bodies (eg TSyI, ASIS, ISACA) and has a network within the broader security industry and/or government helping share best practise

Desirable:
Budget responsibility experience

Ability to lead the business response to any security incident or issue, to minimise business operational, contractual and reputational impact
