Principal Project Engineer – Bid Management

Would you like to play a key role within manging the full lifecycle management within Submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Project Engineer at our site in Barrow in Furness.

As a Principal Project Engineer, you will be managing the business winning and Bid Management and the effective delivery of multiple small value projects or will be given responsibility to support aspects of a larger or more complex project with support from the Project Manager.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in an ever-changing environment, you will gain exposure to different areas within Submarines including but not limited to Commercial, Cost Estimating, Finance and Engineering teams.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Project Engineer – Bid Management

will involve:

Managing and monitoring the full life cycle management of the bid process whilst maintaining strong communication with relevant Technical, Finance, Cost Estimating and Commercial departments to maintain the Projects and Technical Service programme and support its effective delivery

Acting as a customer interface for the small-value projects bid work

Assisting in planning and governance of Business Winning opportunities within the portfolio

Working with Project Control in the support of management and monitor the progress of the small-value projects

Gathering data, update Project and Technical Services portfolio tracker and generate business winning progress reports on behalf of the Project Leader

Maintaining project documentation, identify and expedite actions to respond to issues and deviations from the contract

Supporting and maintaining of the Back Office reach back technical query service for In-Service programmes

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential skills

Full lifecycle management (LCM) experience

Bid Management experience

APM / Certificate in Project Management or equivalent level of hands on expeirnece

Desirable skills
Risk management experience

Expeirnece working in a defence or engineering related industry

You will have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the business including senior stakeholders. You will have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise your own work, although you work closely with the team we are looking for someone that has the ability to work on under their own initiative.
