About Network Rail
To direct a team of payroll professionals delivering an efficient, effective and professional payroll service to Network Rail.
Provide advice, support and resolve escalated queries relating to payroll processes, policies and systems, increasing customer service and providing quality and consistent payroll support to Network Rail.
About the role (External)
1.Oversee the day to day complex in-house payroll processing function and bureau payroll processing activities. Implement key performance objectives and targets to monitor accurate payments to Network Rail employees.
2.Guide the payroll team to deliver payroll activity remaining fully compliant with relevant statutory, regulatory legislation and corporate activities, shared services and network rail procedures.
3.Control payroll processing in line with agreed processing schedules delivering a timely and accurate payroll service meeting agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI) / Service Level Agreements (SLA's).
4.Create, develop and deliver payroll controls, checks and audits in line with governance framework and support the Senior Accounting Office (SAO) initiatives to maintain payroll accuracy
5.Pro-actively initiate and implement continuous improvements within the payroll functionality, whilst assessing any impact on the payroll service evaluating good practice and establishing robust processes.
6.Control and delegate the delivery of technical payroll system changes to enable successful delivery of future payroll and reward requirements. Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders to certify requirements are met whilst maintaining compliance.
7.Manage the workflow and utilisation of improved systems to distribute the allocation of work throughout the team.
8.Develop and continually improve relations with key stakeholders, define and embed a customer centric culture where all team members consider the impact on customers and their future requirements.
9.Champion and overseeing the adoption of weekly focus initiatives, coaching and empowering team members to innovate existing processes to drive continuous improvement in the department and wider organisation.
10.Manage the payroll processing team by maximising individual employee performance. Set, monitor and assess individuals against SMART objectives to drive employee and team performance. Support team member development through regular coaching and balanced feedback; encouraging team members to have a training and career development plan.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Previous payroll management experience
- Experience of managing teams in a complex regulatory environment with multiple and complex contracts and terms and conditions
- Exceptional customer focus/engagement and management skills
- Exceptional analytical and accounting skills
- ORACLE eBusiness Suite or similar experience
- Experience of working to a legislative framework and within agreed timescales
- Experience of auditing and compliance to a process
- Experience of wider finance processes and accounting policies
- Experience in LEAN or equivalent
